Ever since 2003 or thereabouts, when PayPal began accepting credit card payments, I have been declining them when selling items on Ebay. Their ridiculous policy of assessing a 2.9% + $0.30 fee to any incoming transfer of funds, be it backed by a credit card, bank, or another PayPal account is simply unacceptable. Ebay now completely deletes aunctions if a seller chooses to accept PayPal, but states credit card payments through PayPal are not acceptable.

As I rarely sell items that go for more than $20 or $30 and I use Ebay to sell things perhaps once a year, it’s no longer worthwhile to use PayPal at all. Fortunately, I never need the money that quickly. The buyer suffers the most discomfort waiting the cheque to clear, though that happens fairly quickly anyway.

I’d actually like to kick Ebay to the curb as well. PayPal and Ebay fit so nicely together, afterall.
